Cancellation policy: A full refund of member registration will be issued if requested on or before August 24, 2019. Guests can receive a 50% refund if requested on or before September 11, 2019. No refunds will be issued after September 12, 2019.

VENUE

HOTEL & MEALS 
The conference is being held at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island Michigan.  The Grand is a unique venue filled with old-world hospitality and charm and is an AAA Four Diamond Rated property. The hotel has been family-owned for three generations and is a National Historical Landmark.  It boasts the world’s longest porch which overlooks the beautiful Straits of Mackinac. The Grand Hotel offers accommodations on the Modified American Plan which includes dinner and breakfast with your sleeping room for one rate. Meals at the Grand Hotel are an event in themselves. A full breakfast in the Main Dining Room begins the day, with many options available for luncheon. Then mid-afternoon the hotel serves Afternoon Tea in the Parlor accompanied by live music each day. At the Grand you dress for the 5-course dinner which is daily followed by live music, dancing, and demitasse in the Parlor.  In addition, the hotel offers five in-house bars for your enjoyment. 

Please note that conference attendees who are not guests of the Grand Hotel will be charged a meal package fee of $450 per adult.

BRINGING GUESTS
Spouse, guests, or families are welcome and encouraged to attend along with you. Many speakers and registrants will be bringing a spouse or guests. Adults are welcome at any of our receptions or meals. Please note that the spouse/guest registration fee covers the meals and receptions except for the Thursday luncheon with Steve Ford which requires a separate registration for a spouse or guest. Rates are subject to a 19.5% service fee, 6% sales tax, an $8.00 per person luggage charge and a 2% Mackinac Island assessment fee.  The ABC of Michigan room block expires Monday, September 9, 2019. To receive the discount and guarantee your room please make your reservation prior to that date. 

EXTENDING YOUR STAY AT THE GRAND HOTEL
The Grand Hotel has graciously given our conference attendees a discounted rate for additional nights at the hotel. To extend your stay or register extra guests, use the Grand Hotel room registration form.

ISLAND INFORMATION
Mackinac Island, Michigan is located between the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan in the Straits of Mackinac.  It is accessible by ferry boat from either Mackinaw City (in the Lower Peninsula) or St. Ignace (in the Upper Peninsula).  Boats make several crossings daily from both ports. In addition, the Mackinac Island airport accommodates both private and charter planes.

The Island has a variety of entertainments including exploring the island’s quaint shops, touring Fort Mackinac, biking the trails around the island, taking a carriage tour of the Island or visiting Arch Rock and many other historic sites.  

ISLAND TRANSPORTATION
Automobiles are not permitted on the Island. Instead you will find horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, and walking as the modes of transportation on Mackinac Island. The Grand Hotel staff is always available to arrange for a taxi (horse-drawn, of course) to take you wherever you’d like to go on the island.  

DRESS FOR CONFERENCE
The conference is being held in late fall in northern Michigan which could bring cooler temperatures (particularly on the Island). Average temperatures range from the high 60s to the low 40s.  Please keep in mind that meeting rooms may vary in temperature as well.  Recommended style of dress is Business Casual for the day time meetings and events and Thursday evening’s off-property events. We will travel to the Thursday evening events in taxis (horse-drawn carriages) which are covered but not heated so please bring appropriate outdoor attire. An umbrella is also suggested.

The Grand Hotel experience includes dressing up for dinner. Dinners on both Wednesday and Friday evenings will require attendees to adhere to the hotel’s dress code. Evening wear is required in all areas of the hotel after 6:30 p.m. Dress, skirt and blouse or pantsuit for ladies, and coat, necktie and dress pants for gentlemen. No denim please

GETTING TO THE GRAND HOTEL 

BY LAND
Ferries to Mackinac Island can be accessed by driving to Mackinaw City (on Michigan’s lower peninsula) or St. Ignace (upper peninsula). Take Interstate I-75 to get to the ferry docks in either mainland town: Mackinaw City or St. Ignace. Exits are clearly marked on I-75 northbound and southbound. Tolls are assessed for vehicles traveling over the Mackinac Bridge.  

FERRY SERVICE TO MACKINAC ISLAND (Sponsored by: AIS Construction Equipment)
ABC of Michigan has contracted with Shepler’s Ferry for ferry passage for all registered conference attendees. Additional ferry tickets can be purchased at the docks for your family and guests. Shepler's is located at 556 E. Central, Mackinaw City, MI 49701. 

PARKING 
Shepler’s offers complimentary unsecured outdoor parking for up to five days/nights. Indoor and valet parking is available for nominal charges. 

FERRY SCHEDULE
The boats operate from early morning until early evening, with frequent crossings throughout the day.  The trip to Mackinac Island takes just over 15 minutes. The Shepler ferry schedule for the dates of the conference is available by visiting Shepler's website, or by downloading the schedule PDF. If you are departing from St. Ignace via Shepler’s please contact ABC of Michigan (517) 853-2545 when you register to secure arrangements. 

LUGGAGE 
Luggage transfer is simple and convenient, with assistance provided on both the mainland and on Mackinac Island. Dock porters at the ferry lines tag your luggage for your ho¬tel while porters work the Island to ensure your luggage arrives at your destination. 

BY AIR
Commercial Flights: Schedule flights to Pellston Airport (airport code PLN) through Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).  Pellston Regional Airport is located 12 miles south of Mackinaw City, MI. Air taxi service between the Pellston Regional Airport and Mackinac Island Airport are available 24 hours a day. For information call Great Lakes Air at (906) 643-7327.

Charter & Private Airline Services: Great Lakes Air, Lakeshore Express & American Business Airways provide service from the region to Northern Michigan and the Island and also offer longer route charter service.  For more information, including servicing airports and rates, please contact North Country Aviation directly at 800-959-1829.  

Mackinac Island Airport (MCD): Mackinac Island Airport’s 3,500-foot lighted, paved runway is capable of accommodating private and charter aircraft. The airport is one mile from Grand Hotel. Horse-drawn taxi service is available from the airport to Grand Hotel. For more information, please call (906) 847-3323.

Limousine and Shuttle Service: Mackinaw Shuttle and Wolverine Stages will bring you and your luggage right to the boat docks after your flight to Pellston Airport and take you back when you are ready to go. They operate on a 24-hour basis. This service is also available on a charter basis. Reservations are recommended.
