Membership is available to all businesses in the construction industry that believe in the Merit shop philosophy. The Merit Shop philosophy is based on the belief that every company has the right to bid and be awarded contracts based solely upon the merit of their work, and NOT on their affiliation with labor organizations.
Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan (ABC-MI) is supported by four local chapters. These chapters are: Central Michigan, Saginaw Valley, Southeastern Michigan and Western Michigan. Companies who are interested in membership join ABC through these local chapters. When you join your local chapter a portion of your total dues goes to both the state and national organizations. As an ABC member you will not only belong to your local chapter, but you will be a part of the nearly twelve-hundred Michigan members and the twenty-five thousand contractors and suppliers that belong to Associated Builders and Contractors nationally.

An associate member is a person or company offering services to the construction industry. Members in this category include: attorneys, accountants, architects, banks, and insurance agents. If you are not directly involved in the construction of buildings but do business with construction companies, your firm is eligible to join ABC as an associate member. | Contractor members are companies that are contracted or hired to construct, oversee or cause to be built any new construction, remodeling or restoration of a building, facility, road, sewer, etc. This contractor may be in charge of all (general contractor or construction manager) or part (sub-contractor or specialty-contractor) of the construction process. | Supplier members include manufacturers, distributors or sales agents selling or supplying construction equipment or materials to contractors for use in the construction and/or finish of the facilities/project. |
As a member of Associated Builders and Contractors you and your company can enjoy the benefit of money saving programs such as auto leasing, insurance programs, and many, many more. Each Chapter, as well as ABC National, has developed membership service programs to specifically meet the needs of their members.
